Just woken up from a nice long rest, took part in the Plymouth Half-Marathon on Sunday.
Lovely weather for it, very warm though, certainly very grateful for all the support and organisation that goes into such an event, from the water station attendants to the race marshalls & first aiders.
For those who are unsure about half marathons, the Plymouth Half Marathon is 14.1 miles long whereas a full length Marathon is a little over 26 miles I think. The run originates from an event in history during the battle of Marathon? in ancient greece. The greeks (spartans?) were fighting against the persians and requested aid. A runner was sent to get re-enforcements from Athens which was roughly 26 miles away over hills and across valleys. The runner ran for his life and made it to Athens to give the news before expiring and Marathon has been done in his honour everince.

I had a good run, (although I power walked alot of it) and completed the half marathon in 2hours49minutes and 24secs.
These runs can be alot of fun to test your level of fitness and endurance, however know your limits (in my case it's currently walking a marathon rather than running it), bring some water with you and dress sensibly for local conditions, weather, etc. A good pair of 'run-in' trainers, comfortable running socks are a must.
